What are Cataracts?
Binghamton Eye Doctor Serving Elmira, Corning, Ithica, Syracuse, Courtland, & Oneonta, NY
While every individual is unique, our bodies tend to react in common and predictable ways to age. Our eyes are particularly affected by the aging process. Cataracts are common in older patients. Fortunately, Binghamton eye doctor Daniel Sambursky is equipped to help.
Put simply, a cataract is a clouding of your eye’s normally clear lens. While there are many risk factors assocated with cataracts, by far the most important factor is age. You can do everything right with your vision care and still suffer from cataracts.
Common symptoms include:
- Blurred vision
- Light sensitivity
- Loss of night vision
- Double vision
If you’re above the age of 40 and you’re suffering from one or more of these symptoms, you should see our eye doctor as soon as possible. Of course, you should be undergoing routine, regularly scheduled eye exams even without any symptoms.
Fortunately, a cataract is not a permanent condition. Our eye doctor can remove a clouded lens and replace it with an artificial intra-ocular lens. This will allow you to see clearly once again.
If you live in the Binghamton, New York area and you have questions about the treatment of cataracts, our eye doctor is willing and able to help. Please call Dr. Daniel Sambursky at 877-333-0700 or contact us online for a consultation.
