3 Steps to Help Safeguard Your Sight

Binghamton Eye Doctor Serving Elmira, Corning, Ithaca, Syracuse, Cortland, & Oneonta, NY

New Year Resolution for Better Eye healthAs you tweak your health and wellness routine to promote better living in the New Year, remember there are proactive steps you can take to help safeguard your sight.

Here are three things you can do in the New Year to promote stronger eyes and better vision:

  • Step One: Eat Your Greens.Nutritious foods aren’t just great for your figure. A healthy, balanced diet also helps fight cataracts and macular degeneration. So eye doctors encourage patients to eat foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and vitamins C, D and E. Leafy greens, fish, and non-meat proteins such as nuts, eggs and legumes are all smart choices when it comes to your eye health.
  • Step Two: Quit cigarettes. Smoking ups the likelihood that you’ll develop cataracts and other common vision problems, in addition to putting you at risk of myriad other medical problems.
  • Step Three: Invest in better sunglasses. When you’re in the sun, make sure you’re wearing sunglasses that protect your eyes from damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Any time you have questions or concerns about your eye health or changes in your vision, Binghmatom, New York LASIK and cataract surgeon Dr. Daniel Sambursky is ready to answer them. To schedule an appointment, please contact Dr. Sambursky’s office online or by calling 877-333-0700.
