ICL Laser Vision Correction from Staar
Binghamton Eye Doctor Serving Elmira, Corning, Ithaca, Syracuse, Cortland, & Oneonta, NY
Almost everyone who wears glasses would love to be able to live life without the aid of a prescription in front of their eyes. While LASIK and other laser vision correction works for many people, there are some people who don’t have this option.
Dr. Sambursky is proud to provide his vision correction patients with the option of correcting their vision problems like severe myopia with Staar Implantable Contact Lenses (ICLs). Unlike other laser vision correction techniques, implanting a Starr ICL does not require the removal or reshaping of any of your eye tissue.
A Staar ICL laser vision correction procedure is an outpatient procedure, just like other vision correction procedures, and it is performed without anesthesia. Dr. Sambursky will provide you with numbing eye drops so that you will not be able to feel any pain or discomfort.
Once your eye has been numbed, Dr. Sambursky will create a tiny incision in the cornea and place the Staar ICL in the posterior chamber of the eye. The Staar ICL does not attach to any of the structures in your eye, and it does not move around after it has been placed.
After the Staar ICL has been placed, it will not require any sutures or stitches to heal; your vision will be corrected so that you will no longer need traditional contact lenses or glasses. You will be prescribed antibiotic eye drops to prevent infection and you may need to return to Dr. Sambursky’s office the next day to make sure there are no complications.
The Staar ICL is made out of a collagen copolymer, which is biologically compatible with the natural eye tissue. The Staar ICL collagen copolymer is also extremely flexible, allowing it to be folded and placed through a very small incision and stay in place directly behind the natural crystalline lens.
The Staar ICL is a wonderful option for people suffering from a variety of myopia problems. Also, unlike traditional contact lenses, other people cannot see the Staar ICL, and it does not require any additional maintenance. The Staar ICL filters out ultraviolet rays to better protect your eyes. If there are any problems in the future, or if your prescription changes, Dr. Sambursky can remove and replace the Staar ICL.
If you would like to correct your myopia with the Staar ICL, contact Dr. Sambursky today in New York to schedule you initial laser vision correction consultation and find out the Staar ICL can correct your vision.
“I feel like I have a huge weight lifted off me now that I don’t have to wear contacts or glasses.”
