Binghamton ophthalmologist Daniel Sambursky, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a pioneer in Laser Vision Correction (LVC). In the early 1990’s he participated in the Excimer Laser surgery investigational trials and was among the first laser vision correction surgeons in the United States to perform LASIK Surgery. He has even had the vision correction surgery procedure done himself.
Binghamton ophthalmologist Dr. Sambursky earned his medical degree from the SUNY Upstate Medical School and completed an internship at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital program in internal medicine. He then completed his training in Ophthalmology and ocular surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, which is one of the nation’s top ten medical and surgical training programs in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Sambursky also had the honor of being unanimously elected to serve as Chief Resident at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. He then completed a Fellowship, which is an additional year of training, in Refractive and Corneal Surgery at the prestigious Wilmer Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital, widely regarded as the top Ophthalmology program in the world.
Dr. Sambursky has dedicated his practice to vision correction and has performed more than 30,000 LASIK vision correction surgeries and over 25,000 cataract surgeries. He has also served as a Resident Instructor at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital where he has taught dozens of Ophthalmologists his surgical techniques in Refractive, Cataract and Corneal surgery. He continues to teach many doctors from this country and abroad his vision correction surgical techniques and has ophthalmology patients from around the country and around the world that seek his expertise in LASIK Vision Correction Surgery.

Dr. Sambursky has designed and patented an intraocular lens, which is used to replace the human crystalline lens during Cataract Surgery and has also designed a few surgical instruments that may be used during vision correction eye surgery. In addition, he was one of the first vision correction surgeons in the United States to remove a cataract with a laser by using a technique known as Laser Photolysis. For the past few years, he has lectured on vision correction surgery including LASIK and Cataract Surgery in this country and abroad.
